Can a concrete patio be poured on top of an Allan Block wall?

If properly designed and constructed, a concrete patio above an Allan Block retaining wall is not an issue. Allan Block retaining walls have been used to support many patio, sidewalk, and roadway applications. Any added weight above your wall is called a “surcharge“. Patios, swimming pools and driveways are common residential surcharges. Your wall may need additional support if a surcharge is present.
